The Kalmar Nyckel, a majestic full-scale replica of a 17th-century Swedish merchant ship, is setting sail once again from Greenport Village, offering hands-on sailing adventures and free deck tours for all ages from July 22 through August 3.

The visit to Greenport is part of the Kalmar Nyckel’s summer tour of East Coast ports, bringing living maritime history to waterfront communities.

See video below of the Kalmar Nyckel’s summer 2022 visit:

Known as “The Tall Ship of Delaware,” the Kalmar Nyckel invites guests aboard for 2.5-hour public sails departing from the dock near the Greenport LIRR station at 104 Fourth St. Passengers can help haul lines, set sails and hear seafaring tales from the crew—or simply sit back and enjoy the breeze from the deck of the square-rigger ship.

Built to replicate the original vessel that brought Swedish settlers to the Delaware Valley in 1638, the Kalmar Nyckel combines maritime history with an unforgettable sailing experience. The nonprofit Kalmar Nyckel Foundation operates the ship as a floating classroom, with programs designed to engage and educate participants of all ages.

Ticket prices are $75 for adults and $40 for children 12 and under, and can be purchased online at www.KalmarNyckel.org/explore or by calling 302-429-7447. All sailings are weather dependent and subject to change.
