My name is Nicholas Planamento, and I’m running for a seat on the Southold Town Board in this November’s election.
Many of you may know me from my small business on Love Lane, where I worked to highlight and support this unique local treasure, which I’ve always called the heart of the North Fork. Love Lane is a wonderful place to meet town residents and talk about community. Others recognize me from around town with my golden retrievers or out on the bay on my boat. I’ve also had the honor of serving many as a trusted real estate professional, helping individuals and families with one of their most important life investments.
My commitment to Southold runs much deeper than my professional life. Over the years, I’ve volunteered on many town committees, including the Architectural Review Committee, the Hamlet Stakeholders Committee, the Board of Assessment Review and the Southold 375th Anniversary Committee. I’ve also served multiple terms as Southold’s appointed representative to the Suffolk County Planning Commission, in addition to other community work.
More recently, I’ve worked alongside many of you in Town Hall, serving for nearly a decade as vice chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals. In that role, I’ve built strong working relationships with residents and local departments, gaining valuable insight into how our town functions and where it needs support, while upholding our town code.
I am endorsed by the Civil Service Employees Association of the Town of Southold, along with the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association. I thank these organizations for their support and for recognizing me as a voice who will work to the benefit of their membership, including all town employees and those who serve to protect us locally and regionally.
Southold is at a critical moment. We’re facing major challenges — from staffing and zoning reform to environmental concerns, water quality and quantity, and the urgent need for housing solutions. Our town needs a representative with broad experience, a collaborative mindset and a deep understanding of both the community and how Town Hall works.
I believe my background, education, experience and commitment to Southold make me uniquely qualified to serve on the Town Board at this moment. When elected, I will work to serve all Southold residents — longtime locals and newer neighbors alike — with respect, transparency and dedication.
Nicholas Planamento is running as a Republican and a Conservative Party candidate for Southold Town Board in next month’s election.
