Poquatuck Hall will bring together three singer-songwriters with ties to the Hudson Valley and New York indie music scenes for an intimate songwriters-in-the-round performance honoring the historic Orient venue’s Artist in Residency Program, on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.
The concert will feature Meg Lui, Keenan O’Meara and Tamsin Wilson, frontwoman and primary songwriter of the Brooklyn band Wilsen. The three musicians will trade original songs and stories in the traditional songwriters-in-the-round format.
Lui, a Northern California native now based in the Hudson Valley, became Poquatuck Hall’s first Artist in Residence in March and will perform some of the music she wrote during her residency. A Berklee College of Music graduate, Lui has contributed vocals to recordings by Sufjan Stevens, Sam Evian, John Legend and Denison Witmer, among others. Her debut album, Instant Validation, produced by Stevens, is due this fall.
O’Meara, a Maryland-born songwriter now based in the Catskills, has opened for Zach Bryan at major U.S. stadium shows and on European tour dates and appears on Bryan’s Belting Bronco label. His debut full-length album, Bathe in the Everlasting Light, was released in June and includes contributions from Hudson Valley collaborators including Evian and Stevens.
Wilson, an Anglo-Canadian singer-songwriter and Berklee alum, is best known as the frontwoman of Wilsen, whose three albums — Sirens, I Go Missing in My Sleep and Ruiner — blend folk-influenced songwriting with an atmospheric indie-rock sound.
The concert will also celebrate Poquatuck Hall’s Artist in Residency Program and its effort to provide musicians with a space to develop new work.
The show begins at 7 p.m. at Poquatuck Hall in Orient. A $15 donation is suggested, with tickets available through Eventbrite.
