On June 24, Suffolk County police stopped a driver in East Marion for speeding, who told them he was rushing home because his wife was having a panic attack. Police contacted the wife, who said she was okay and needed no assistance. County police reported to Southold police that the driver had made up the panic attack story in order to get out of a ticket, an effort that apparently failed, according to a police report.
On June 25, Mario Uyu Puluc, 41, of Jamesport, was arrested by Southold Town police on an outstanding bench warrant, according to a police report.
On June 25, an employee at a Main Rd. restaurant in Mattituck contacted police to report an intoxicated patron causing a disturbance in the bar area. When police arrived at the restaurant, the patron had fled on a green e-bike, according to authorities. Police went to the patron’s home and determined he was “highly intoxicated and appeared confused.” He was advised that he is no longer permitted to visit the restaurant. Police report that the patron was uncooperative, but no further action was taken.
On June 25, a Greenport woman approached a Southold police officer to report that her cell phone was missing and that she had tracked it to an apartment on South St. in Greenport. The officer escorted the woman to the apartment, where the individual living there returned the phone to its owner without incident, according to police.
On June 26, the president of the Orient/East Marion park district reported a possible burglary to police. According to a report, an individual walking a dog on Main Rd. in Orient allegedly removed a lock and entered a park district shed, where he is alleged to have taken a plastic water bottle and some leftover food from the refrigerator in the shed. The park district president declined to press charges, but requested a well-being check on the individual. Police located a Everest, Washington man who matched the description. Detectives were notified but no further action was taken.
On June 26, an anonymous caller reported a tractor trailer hitting a stop sign at the corner of Main Rd. and Wickham Ave. in Mattituck. Responding officers found a town stop sign that had been knocked completely out of the ground. A canvas of the area turned up no suspects.
On June 27, the owner of an antiques store on Main Rd. in Cutchogue reported to police that overnight, someone had stolen outdoor furniture from outside of the store. An investigation is ongoing, according to police.
On June 28, a Front St. restaurant owner reported that an intoxicated male was passed out in the alleyway adjacent to the restaurant in Greenport. According to a police report, Ramon Rodriguez, 40, with no known address, was too intoxicated to stand, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
On June 29, Kenroy Pollock, 36, of Riverhead was arrested for trespassing at a Mattituck beach. A Mattituck Parks District employee had contacted police to report that Pollock’s vehicle was at the beach “numerous times” without a parking permit. According to a police report, Pollock was asked for identification for an hour without success, after which he was arrested and transported to police headquarters for trespassing.
On June 29, an employee at a gas station on Main Rd. in Cutchogue reported a burglary in progress. Police arrived to find an intoxicated West Islip man sitting in the driver’s seat of a car that does not belong to him, with the engine off. Police approached the man, who reportedly appeared “intoxicated and confused.” Police officers identified the man’s car as a Genesis, based on the car keys in his pocket. He was transported to police headquarters, where a taxi picked him up to take him home.
