Hundreds of spectators lined the docks this past weekend at the Polo Grounds in Greenport as canine athletes from across the region sprinted down the runway and launched themselves skyward at the 10th Annual North Fork Dog Dock Dive. Photographer Jeremy Garretson was on assignment for the Sun and captured all the excitement in stunning video and dramatic mid-air photos.
From gravity-defying leaps and dramatic midair poses to joyful belly flops and triumphant retrieves, the milestone event delivered no shortage of excitement, laughter and unforgettable moments. Hosted by co-chairs Rena Wilhelm, Sarah Phillips and Kim Loper (pictured above) on Moores Lane and now designated as a DockDogs Wild Card event, this year’s competition drew talented pups, devoted handlers and dog lovers of all ages for a weekend that celebrated community, four-legged athleticism and the simple joy of making a big splash.
